TRF421X at ETS Andernach

Just back from the ETS Andernach at my most favourite track, the Arena33. With a lot if practise and testing before I started with high expectations. But shortly after the practise heats were done I realised, that top 20 will be hard to reach. The track had not that amount of traction, I was expecting. Most probably because of the lower temperatures, which we hadn’t during the practise before.
However, after getting the car stable on the rear (more toe-in and less camber) I could get down to 17.77sec best lap. The pace was at my expectation, but somehow I overshoot too many corners and thus had too many laps with more than 18.2sec. Between Q3 and Q4 I replaced the 421X Alu Main deck, which got stressed pretty much at the EC in Luxemburg and finally in Q3 with an attempt to go though the fence (catches a curb too much).
At this race I tested the Xray XLP springs, which were also used by TRF Team in Japan. Tried softer and harder ones, but finally ended up soft on front with 2.4-2.7 and 2.7 on rear.
Together with Thorsten Schiller, who was running Masters 40+ category we tried different caster settings on both front and rear. As Thorsten was running the Avalon Body he was also trying higher caster on front – which ended up in not enough rotation. More to read in his setup later on (he promised be to post it soon).
For me 4.0° was the best setting, as it made the steering pretty predictable and was right at the edge for neutral rotation behaviour. While on the rear I used -1.0° which completed my feeling to be on the correct edge for drivability.
Spacers were set according to Souta Gotos base setup, he had recently posted.

Here are the pictures of my car and the setupsheet.

Edit: And here is the setupsheet from Thorsten.

Edit2: Remarkably on Masters 40+ another 2 Tamiya cars were running. As one of my mates Daniel Mateos was not able to continue his race with his 20+ years old Yokomo I borrowed him my TRF421 on which he reached P38.
Another mate from Denmark Soren Jeppesen was running a TT-02 SRX (yes. TT-02!) and placed P39 in the end. Wow! I watched both cars during the quails and finals and were impressed how both guys were doing.

Edit3: Full Result as PDF (compliments to Hartmut Wenzel!)

Concluding the whole 4 days I can say, that our TRFworkz community is gaining more and more experience on high level racing, which in the turnaround we can share with the other members, who are still learners.
