TRF421 Setup Findings

With now more than 2 months of racing and testing many more setup findings has been settled down. During the last days I was building up my second TRF421 which was dedicated to race in stock class. My first 17.5T stock race was the Speed Masters in Mannheim (also round 1 german nationals). Mostly setup is made at home (rather than on track). This is so true, as I didn‘t make major changes on by setup on both cars – I was also racing modified.

Speedwise I am more than happy with both cars, as they are on the top edge of competitiveness. Since I am driving TRF421 I never had the feeling, that something was missing against any other competition touring car.

Technically my modified car is having more changes to the kit setup, as the angles and spacers are in general „more“. With my newly built stock car I have reduced everything a little bit against my modified setup. But the tendencies are still the same!

Regarding my stock setup I am pretty happy with it, as it generates enough rotation and is still well balanced. However, the traction was missing at some acceleration points at mid straights causing a little bit of loose rear. But I have seen this quite often on other cars, which is a kind of trade off between corner speed and traction stability. Going lower with the rear diff oil might help here – but also cause less mechanical traction. What else to test? I will also test the 0.5mm Diff Excentric Holders in „up“ position. I also want to test harder springs….

Here you will find the direct link to my setup sheets (also gear chart and trfworkz blank setupsheet V1.2 added).
